Soda Blasting is a process used to clean or strip a wide variety of coatings off of many different substrates. Soda Blasting has similarities to, but is very different from traditional sand blasting. Soda Blasting is done without the concerns associated with sandblasting. Before soda blasting, people needed something stripped were forced to use harmful sand blasting or even extremely environmentally harsh chemicals to get the job done. Big T’s Stripping Company uses the high tech process of soda blasting which uses a soft media driven by air, providing an environmentally sensible, low impact alternative to sand blasting. |

Pure sodium bicarbonate, also known as baking soda, is a relatively soft medium. By looking at Mohs Hardness Scale, one can easily see how much gentler sodium bicarbonate is than other forms of blasting such as glass, steel shot, cob, plastic, and sand. This property allows soda blasting to be performed without scratching, pitting, dinging, or warping the underlying material. |

Soda Blasting is, without a doubt, the most effective, greenest, and quickest way to remove coatings of any type. Soda leaves metal smooth and ready to paint with no sanding, pitting warping, or heat build-up on the surface, yet it will not harm glass, rubber, or chrome.
